Acclaimed Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey will lead a group in Intense Eand also the’environment-focused’ race series.
The 60-year-old will be the’lead visionary’ for the Veloce team when the series begins in February 2021.
Newey is Red Bull Racing’s chief technical officer, designing the cars that motivated Sebastian Vettel to four F1 world titles between 2010 and 2013.
Extreme E will visit 12 teams and drivers go head-to-head in SUV cars.
The show called Greenland as one of its five race locations.
Newey said:”The series is an outstanding platform for drawing attention to this Earth’s environmental challenges and forcing change.”
The Englishman made cars for McLaren and Williams in the 1990s,
Alongside Newey have called the designer’s kid Harrison Newey and two-time Formula E winner Jean-Eric Vergne as two.
Vergne stated:”For me personally, it was obvious I needed to be concerned because I saw the concept. With my other co-founders, we’ve worked tough to make this occur. We intend to be more disruptive in our approach as we drive awareness of climate change”
Noodle E chairman Alejandro Agag set extreme E to highlight climate change in five places: the Arctic, the desert, the jungle, the Himalayas along with a island.
Environmental experts from Cambridge University will join Extreme E revive areas damaged by climate change and to conduct research.
The Intense E motorist programme has been announced last week, together with motorists Jamie Chadwick and Katherine Legge called in it.
