The Oakland Athletics are not being intimidated in the least bit against the Astros in Houston this past week. With one game remaining in this show, the Athletics have a chance to win three out of four matches in Houston. That’s not easy to do and it only goes to show that the A’s are decided to get into the postseason.
Nobody can say for sure what is going to happen with Oakland. They are one of the teams that are harder to have a finger in baseball. The A’s move on those just as easily and nice runs against competition can regress.
Oakland can not afford any regression. They might be having a good time at Houston against the’Stros, however, it doesn’t promise much. The A’s are relegated into a half game lead for the wildcard from the American League going into today. A streak in Houston and they will still have a lead entering the weekend. Even the Indians edged out the Angels at Anaheim to keep pace with the A’s.
Last evening it had been Brett Anderson. He was efficient in 5 innings, with just 2 earned runs while the bullpen was solid as well in relief effort. There was no letdown for them the next day, after beating the Astros by a football score of 21-7 the night before.
In the previous two days, they’ve outscored the Astros 26-10. Then the Homer Bailey and the A’s are going to have to do it Should they wish to avoid a series divide and choose the win. Not a simple job, but beating the Astros double is not easy, either. Head below for our free Athletics vs. Astros select.

This resembles a daunting task for the Oakland Athletics tonight. Receive three from four wins on the street in Houston and to win the string, it is going to need to happen with Homer Bailey outpitching Justin Verlander. Bailey has been able to find the fountain of youth recently and turned the clocks back, although that seems like crazy talk.
Without an adequate period because 2014, Bailey was pitching well in what has been his final opportunity. Another terribly year and I could not see how he would locate a job in 2020. He goes to this one with a 4.87 ERA and also 1.35 WHIP involving the Royals and A’s. Gold has been discovered by bailey and has not looked this good with the Reds since 2014. In his past five starts, Homer has allowed fewer or 3 runs. Can he maintain it in Houston, however?
Bailey has thrown like a different hurler on the street than at home this year, therefore there is a reason to pause . While he’s got an ERA of 3.80 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in the home, those amounts balloon into a 6.38 ERA and 1.45 WHIP around the street. The’Stros are hitting .321 with a .384 OBP against him in 78 at-bats. They’ve connected for 16 runs and 6 home runs. Conversely, the A’s are hitting just .218 in 165 plate appearances against JV.
Verlander heads into Thursday on flame with a 0.42 ERA and 0.47 WHIP in his last three outings. He’s allowed only 1-run in his last 21.1 innings of play. This includes a no-hitter from the Blue Jays in Toronto. JV has generally been better in Minute Maid Park, though, where he possesses a 2.29 ERA and 0.77 WHIP in 94.1 innings. Despite the play by Oakland the past two days, there appears to be some value on Verlander contrary to Homer Bailey inside this area.
