Less than two years because his severe spinal cord injury, Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier still hasn’t given up his dream of returning to the NFL.
Shazier not only wants to play again, he wants to play at an elite level.

“I still want to make the Hall of Fame, still want to be the best linebacker in the NFL,” Shazier stated, via the South Florida Sun Sentinal. “I am not giving up on my goals, and the doctors said don’t give up on my goals, so there’s no problem with me doing that. I’m going to continue working, and hopefully I’m going to be back as soon as I can.”
He has made progress in the recovery, including an impressive box jump in April, but a yield is still far off. It’ll be two years because the harm this December.
Shazier will invest his second straight season on the Steelers’ physically unable to do list in 2019 while continuing rehab. He will also offer help to the training staff and work with the linebackers on Pittsburgh’s roster.
