Emma Lavelle happy with Paisley Park ahead of NH season
Emma Lavelle reports past year’s star remaining hurdler Paisley Park in health before the effort.
The seven-year-old was unbeaten in five starts final semester – progressing from handicap victories at Aintree and Haydock to landing the Long Walk at Ascot and the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham, before crowning his effort in Prestbury Park in March in the Stayers’ Hurdle.
Lavelle is hopeful her steady star can pick up where he left off – with all the Ladbrokes Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury on November 29 his very first objective.
Lavelle stated:”Paisley is very excellent. He seems big and powerful and quite round right now and did really well over the summer!
“He is back cantering and we are very happy with him. The Ladbrokes Trophy meeting in Newbury is that the races select and after the target – it simpler making plans for its top-class horses.
“Hopefully we’ll visit Newbury, then on to the Long Walk at Ascot, the Cleeve in Cheltenham and then directly to the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Festival then possibly on to Punchestown – all fairly Smallish goals!”
Coaching a high-profile horse includes a significant amount of anticipation and stress, however, Lavelle is relishing the chance instead of feeling daunted.
She added:”It’s definitely a different sense. Last year he was the up and that is coming and now he’s the one who has to go and defend his crown.
“He’s still a young horse, however, who will only get stronger.
“it is a wonderful position to be in.”
