As they embark on a brief two-game road trip on the west coast the Calgary Flames will likely be out west the next two days. They will head so that they do not need to move far to find their next opponent. The Flames will have a day off to prepare for some tough matchup against the Washington Capitals. Theyre coming from a monster performance against the Detroit Red Wings with a 5-1 triumph in Calgary. Between the Flyers and Red Wings game, the Flames are in an 8-2 run in their past two games.
This really is a game that some people will view as a trap game. The Flames are feeling great after wins against the Flyers and Red Wings, so now they input LA on a Saturday night and an inferior Kings team to play with. Even though the past two matches flew, the Kings looked just like themselves together with losses of 3-0 and 2-0. They are on a three-game losing streak and have won only one of the past four games. The win didnt resemble a Kings match, as the Predators were amazed by them having a 7-4 score.
More frequently than not, were likely to find results such as the last two games. 7 goals per week is going to be tricky for the Kings to achieve, never mind asking that. The Kings ended 30th at the NHL with 2.43 goals per match.
Allowing them to move from 0 to 100 without too much change roster wise isnt going to occur. A scarcity of offence is expected, but Jonathan Quick and the goaltending playing with this bad isnt. Quick playing from his mind really is the only opportunity the Kings must wrestle together with the playoffs, and when his effort so far is any indication, it is going to be difficult for this to come into fruition. Head below for our free Flames vs. Kings pick.
Jack Campbell has been the choice between the pipes to the Kings. The Kings are not going to give up on Quick following but there may be a changing of the guard in the crease in case Quick proceeds to struggle. There are instances throughout the league of the happening as well, such as in Washington with Ilya Samsonov and Braden Holtby.
Quick is listed as probable for the nod against the Flames tonight. He owns a well-intentioned 6.44 GAA and 0.793 save percentage in three excursions. In three games he has granted a whopping 19 objects, which is triggering the alert. There is reallynt much inspiration for Quick about the Kings at this point. He won two Stanley Cups, created a great deal of cash, and this Kings team isnt moving anywhere. Jack Campbell on the other hand may have something to prove.
The Kings are dead last in the NHL with 4.43 goals allowed per game. That number would be in another stratosphere if it werent for Campbell. And besides the offensive spike against the Predators, their offence was held in check. Subtract the Nashville sport and the Kings have scored only two goals per game.
The Kings most recent assembly against the Flames in LA was a tragedy. They were blown out with a score of 7-2 in April. Later giving 7 goals on 25 shots quick was pulled in that one. In the event the Flames take this game seriously and dont miss the Kings on Saturday, they probably head to a win streak into Anaheim. Im not going to try and overthink this one tonight and go with the Flames to get a unit at Tinseltown.
