Houston Astros at New York Yankees MLB Pick – October 17th

On a single day where neither team wanted to play, the rain came in and washed away the game. Last nights match a few of the American League Championship was rained out, and probably it had been for the everybody involved. ?? Both teams were beginning guys that they did not really wish to begin in a game that mattered a lot.
Houston went to go with rookie Jose Urquidy, followed up by what was supposed to be five or even six innings of the bullpen. And New York reacted with a move since before turning things over to their 30, they were going to proceed. But with the rain, this comes an extra day of rest and today weve got a match four with starters in the mound and with both teams rested.
The problem is that with the rain out, these teams are going to have to finish out the series by playing four matches in four days. As theyve starters which are currently likely to be able to pitch deep into games, that makes the Astros in the show. We have seen that New York is going to visit their own elite bullpen often and early and never have to play four consecutive nights can put major strain on the pencil. This makes tonights game .
Beginning for the Yankees tonight is Masahiro Tanaka (11-9 4.45 ERA) and also for the Astros can it be Zack Greinke (18-5 2.93 ERA). The game complete over-under is set at eight and a half runs. The Yankees are -125 home favorites. First pitch is scheduled for 7:08 PM PST out of Yankee Stadium in New York City.
Masahiro Tanaka continues to be great. Together with Luis Severino trying to figure out things after missing most of the normal season, and James Paxton fighting, the Yankees have needed Tanaka to be the ace of the team, and he has come through big time. Tanaka is now 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA in 2 playoff starts for New York this season. ?? Against Houston in game , Tanaka was unhittable as he pitched six innings and did not allow a run.
And when you take a look at his background of pitching in the playoffs, he always appears to get success pitching at the clutch. In seven starts, Tanaka has an ERA of simply 1.32. And surprisingly enough, four of these starts have come from these Astros. Therefore, it has not been shocking to see him have success in this show, and Id expect he is good tonight. The Yankees are hoping to get five or six innings out of Tanaka tonight, but they would like to have the ability to stretch that and break this tired bullpen.
Zack Greinke has two starts in the postseason this year for Houston and now I have bet against him both times. Its not that I am a Greinke hater, it is merely that hes been inconsistent with Houston in his period. While he has been good, he has had some battles also, and the books were pricing him like he had been Justin Verlander or even Gerrit Cole. I do not, although I would put him on that level.
Those two bets I created against Greinke? I won them both as he has had a rough start to the playoffs this year. In his first postseason start, he has blasted from the Tampa Bay Rays earned runs in only three and two thirds of an inning. In game one against New York, he was better as he allowed three runs and pitched six innings, however Tanaka outpitched him, and he was charged with his second consecutive loss. The Astros have dropped Greinkes two starts. Ouch.
We saw exactly the same beginning pitching matchup in game one, and the Yankees won the game easily. And I really dont see a compelling rationale they wont replicate that performance here tonight. That game has been in Houston, this one is arriving from New York, and I am surprised to see that the amount once we only saw this 1 play a couple of days.
I think Tanaka is good and I think Greinke will be adequate. Hes just too great of a pitcher to struggle for longer, if he finds out a way to have a nice night and it would not shock me. However, in the long run, I just cant pass up on backing the Yankees in the home at such a price that is reasonable. I think the Astros are going to find a way to acquire this show, but I think it goes the full seven games. And that means New York must find a way.
The 1 thing we didnt speak about with this rest day has been Giancarlo Stantons wellness. Stanton has epic electricity and missed both games two and three. He was readily available to pinch hit and I think with the additional day of rest tonight, so he will either be able to play the entire match, or in a minimum pinch hit late in the match. I am not going to state the rain gifted this match but it certainly appears to help them. Give me the New York Yankees as small home favorites tonight in game three from Yankee Stadium.
