Houston Astros at New York Yankees MLB Pick – October 17th

On a single day where neither group wanted to play, the rain washed away the game and arrived. Last nights match a number of the American League Championship was rained out, and it had been for the everybody. ?? Both teams started men they did not really need to start in a game that mattered.
Houston was going to go with rookie Jose Urquidy, followed up by what was likely to be five or even six innings of the bullpen. And New York responded with a similar move since they were planning to proceed with veteran JA Happ for a couple of innings before turning things over with their bullpen. But with the rain, comes with an extra day of rest and we have a game four with starters on the mound and with the two teams.
The problem is that today with out the rain, these teams are going to have to finish the series out by playing four games in four days. To me, that makes the Astros the favorites after as they have. We have seen that New York will visit their bullpen early and regularly and never having to play on four nights could place major strain on the pencil. That makes tonights game .
Starting for the Yankees tonight is Masahiro Tanaka (11-9 4.45 ERA) and also for the Astros is it Zack Greinke (18-5 2.93 ERA). The match total over-under is placed at eight and a half conducts. The Yankees are -125 home favorites. First pitch is scheduled for 7:08 PM PST from Yankee Stadium in New York .
Masahiro Tanaka continues to be great. With Luis Severino attempting to figure out things after missing most of the season, and James Paxton fighting, the Yankees have needed Tanaka are the ace of this team, and hes come through big time. Tanaka is now 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA in two playoff starts for New York this season. ?? Against Houston in game one, Tanaka was unhittable as he pitched six innings and did not allow a run.
And when you look at his background of tossing in the playoffs, he seems to get success pitching at the clutch. In seven playoff starts, Tanaka comes with an ERA of simply 1.32. And surprisingly , four of these starts have come from those Astros. It hasnt been shocking to see him have success in this series, and I would anticipate that he is good tonight. The Yankees are hoping to get five or five innings from Tanaka tonight, but theyd really like to have the ability to stretch that and rest this bullpen.
Zack Greinke has made two starts in the postseason this season and now I have bet against him both times. It is just that he has been inconsistent in his period. While he has been good, hes had some battles and the novels were pricing him just like he was Gerrit Cole or Justin Verlander. At one stage in his career, I would place him but right now, I dont.
Those 2 bets I created contrary to Greinke? I won them both as hes had a very rough start to the playoffs this season. In his first postseason start, he got blasted by the Tampa Bay Rays for six earned runs in just three and two thirds of an inning. In game one against New York, he was better because he pitched six innings and allowed three runs, however Tanaka outpitched him, and he was charged with his second loss. The Astros have dropped Greinkes two starts by a combined score of 17-3. Ouch.
We saw the starting pitching matchup in game one, and the Yankees won the game. And I really dont find a rationale that they wont replicate that performance here tonight. That game was in Houston, this one is coming in New York, and I am quite surprised after we saw this 1 play a few days ago, to see the amount as such a tight one.
I think Tanaka is good again, and that I actually think Greinke is going to be decent. Hes just too great of a pitcher to fight for longer, and it wouldnt shock me if he sees a way to really have a wonderful night. On backing the Yankees at home at a price, However, in the end, I simply cant pass . I think the Astros are likely to locate a way but I think that it goes the full seven games. So New York must find a way to win tonight.
The one thing we didnt speak about with this excess rest day has been that the wellness of Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton overlooked both games two and three and has epic power. He was available to pinch hit and I think in hit hit late in the game, hell be able to play the whole match, or with the extra day of rest tonight. It seems to help them, although I am not likely to say the rain gifted this match to New York. Give the New York Yankees as home favorites tonight in game three from Yankee Stadium to me.
