Hull City have announced that protector Angus MacDonald has been diagnosed with early stages of bowel cancer.
The Sky Bet Championship club said in an announcement that MacDonald, 26, had shown”great strength of character” in his reaction to the diagnosis.
“Hull City are sad to announce that Angus Macdonald was diagnosed with early stages of bowel cancer,” a club statement .
“Angus has demonstrated great strength of personality in how he has responded to this news. The Tigers family will encourage him in his recovery and combine in showing Angus love.
“His physical and psychological wellbeing are our number one priority at this moment now.
“The club kindly asks that fans and the media respect the privacy of Angus and his family currently. Please also note any additional updates on his progress will be supplied by the club.”
MacDonald has created 14 Championship appearances and joined Hull in Barnsley from January 2018.
