Kenyan Lawrence Cherono won the Chicago Marathon because the Mo Farah of Britain finished and neglected to maintain pace.
Cherono, 31, who won the Boston Marathon, outsprinted Ethiopians Dejene Debela and Asefa Mengstu that had been third and second largest.
Farah, 36, who won the race this past year, completed over four minutes adrift in 2 hours, nine minutes.
Fellow Briton David Weir was next in the mens wheelchair race.
