Raheem Sterling not at Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s level, says Pep Guardiola
Pep Guardiola Claims Raheem Sterling Hasn’t yet reached the level of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Sterling has launched the new season in spectacular form, scoring eight goals in seven matches for both Manchester City and England.
England manager Gareth Southgate believes the 24-year-old has the potential be the best footballer on the planet and to overtake Ronaldo and Messi.
However, Guardiola has urged Sterling to ignore those comparisons.
“Hopefully he cannot read a lot of listen to such kind of things, it would be helpful for him,” explained Guardiola, before Saturday’s trip to Norwich – live on Sky Sports.
“nobody can compare Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Lionel] Messi.”
Sterling scored one and set as England beat on Kosovo 5-3 at St Mary’s on Saturday.
The former Liverpool winger has now managed six goals in as many games for England at 2019 and Guardiola is now pleased to see his player excel.
“I’m so satisfied with what he has been doing since we have been together,” explained Guardiola.
“Everything that’s happened to him is good because he has an unbelievable work ethic and he is an incredibly great guy.
“Each time that I know the situation is moving nicely, not only with usbut by means of the national staff, his nation, I am thrilled.”
