World snooker champion Shaun Murphy has revealed he was sidelined whilst dancing into Disney’s Greatest Hits, after suffering a leg injury.
But the Englishman was determined to go back for the continuing Shanghai Masters – with prize money.

After winning 6-1, Murphy said of the injury:”It is not perfect preparation.”

“I felt something go in my own leg. I believed for a moment I’d snapped my Achilles tendon, however, also the doctor afterwards told me when I’d done that I’d have gone down like a sack of spuds,” the 37-year-old informed World Snooker.
“He said that I might well have partially ripped it and he guided me to rest it as much as possible, therefore I sat in the home for a couple of weeks, doing my spouse’s mind in.
“I had to pull from this Paul Hunter Classic and I was relieved to be able to contact the table for a couple of days. It’s not perfect preparation but I am glad to be here and also for a win under my belt.”
Because he got his season up and running using a 6-0 whitewash of Zhang Yi world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan did not hang around.
O’Sullivan, who obtained the Shanghai title in 2018 and 2017, was enjoying for the very first time since his shock opening loss to amateur James Cahill in the World Championship.
