Derek Chisora launched an rant and stormed out of Monday’s press conference ahead of the next month’s showdown with Joseph Parker at The 02.
Chisora faces Parker about the Regis Prograis-Josh Taylor bill in The O2 on October 26, live on Sky Sports Box Office, and director David Haye confirmed the British heavyweight will not work with coach David Coldwell for the fight.
Prograis and Taylor will rival the WBA’Super’ and IBF super-lightweight world titles, although the Muhammad Ali trophy are also at stake at the WBSS closing, but an upset Chisora ripped the script up and also required top billing for his non-title battle with Parker.
“Who’s the main event of this struggle,” asked Chisora, who then launched into an upset foul-mouthed tirade after being told it was that the two men sitting alongside him by promoter Eddie Hearn.
Prograis, that holds the WBA’super’ and WBC bead super-lightweight names, interrupted Chisora by pointing out,”We’re No 1 and No 2″.
The 35-year-old then blasted the point before the press conference had concluded, leaving his behavior to be explained by Haye.
Haye told Sky Sports:”I was somewhat surprised, but Derekthey call him’War Chisora’ because of this. Into the war zone’s turned on real early. He has spent 10 days out in Los Angeles, so perhaps a small amount of jet lag. He’s attracted over a few of that spite that he revealed in the press conference, in sparring.
“I looked at him and watched the vibe, the bubbling going. I thought,’oh, oh, let’s hope he remains sitting’. Fortunately he did. So far as Derek is concerned, that was kind of his very best behavior, no tables obtained thrown.
“Not perfect, but Derek is Derek and that is why people pay to see Derek. He let everyone know how he felt, wrong or right. He gets things off his torso differently he explodes. He didn’t burst today, so far as I am concerned as his supervisor, I am happyish.”
